Hello lovely people of the world! So, when I was approached by Little Brown Books to collab and spotlight Night of Cake & Puppets* by Laini Taylor, I’m not gonna lie, I might have squealed, died, fangirled and told everyone I knew LOL I mean here I was, 6 years after reading my first book by Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke & Bone*) and now I was being asked to talk about one of my most anticipated releases of the year?!?!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! And now here I am, getting to talk about NoC&P and tell y’all about it because y’all NEED to know about it! To begin the spotlight, the following is the synopsis of NoC&P, via Goodreads:
In Night of Cake & Puppets, Taylor brings to life a night only hinted at in the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy — the magical first date of fan-favorites Zuzana and Mik. Told in alternating perspectives, it’s the perfect love story for fans of the series and new readers alike.
Petite though she may be, Zuzana is not known for timidity. Her best friend, Karou, calls her “rabid fairy,” her “voodoo eyes” are said to freeze blood, and even her older brother fears her wrath. But when it comes to the simple matter of talking to Mik, or “Violin Boy,” her courage deserts her. Now, enough is enough. Zuzana is determined to meet him, and she has a fistful of magic and a plan.
It’s a wonderfully elaborate treasure hunt of a plan that will take Mik all over Prague on a cold winter’s night before finally leading him to the treasure: herself! Violin Boy’s not going to know what hit him.
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG ok so like the synopsis said, in Daughter of Smoke & Bone, we got hints and nudges about what happened with Zuzana and “Violin Boy” on their first date but we never got to see the full thing until NoC&P originally released as a e-novella in 2013. Of course, so many people loved it but doesn’t everyone just want to hold a print copy in their hands? Especially when it’s one of your favorite authors? So, now, TODAY, after 4 years, we finally are getting a HC and guess what??? The cover is totally new (and absolutely gorgeous….I think I love it more than the orig cover which is to the right), AND there are going to be illustrations that look as if Zuzana did them (when really they were made by Jim Di Bartolo who’s Laini’s husband which is so cute!), AND there’s going to be bonus content!!!!! Not gonna lie, I’m beyond excited to finally read NoC&P in print form and see it all!!!! ALSO, the title has the word cake in it and I love cake till death do me part so it’s an automatic duh for me to read it LOL
Anyways, I have no idea what else to say because every time I try to talk more about NoC&P, I end up staring at the cover and daydreaming about how amazing it’s going to be to read it lol so I guess I shall end on the note that you NEED to get this as well as the entire Daughter of Smoke & Bone* trilogy, either from the library or from Amazon or some (non-illegal pls) way! Now, have you read Night of Cake & Puppets* as an e-novella? What did you think of it? How excited are you about the print version? Let me know in the comments below!! Thanks, have a great day/night and tata for now!
